2006 California 500 Series

SIGN INS:

  • $35 per car.   $30 per car for Novice.     
  • Safety and Sign In:   Friday 6p-8p.    Saturday  8a-10a.  No practice on Friday.  (Capital will pack the track on Friday night.
  • Late sign ins will be accepted after 10a if the car doesn’t make an additional set for that class and car must sign in prior to first heat race for that class.

 

RACE FORMAT:

  • Pit Meeting 8a Saturday and Sunday ($100 fine will be levied to host club if meeting is late).
  • One round of Practice starting after pit meeting.
  • 7 cars—3 minutes
  • Two heats each 30 laps.  A Main 40 laps.    Exception Novices and classes with 4 cars or less—25 lap heats and A Mains.    Classes with 2 cars 10 lap heats and A Mains.  One car classes will run green, white checkered or with handler agreement may run combined with another class (points will be awarded separately).
  • C Mains and lower will run a 15 lap races.
  • B Mains will run a 20 lap races.
  • Warm ups for ALL races (except novices) 5 laps.  Novices are hot out of the shoot.
  • If more than 8 novices signed in, the class will be split and each set will run 2 heats and a main.  No lower mains for novices.
  • Last race will be pushed out before 10p.  Juniors will not be pushed out to race after 9p.  The CA500 committee will do its best to make a decision regarding how late the Jrs will run on Sat. night by 7:30p.  This may mean skipping some Jr classes and moving on with the Lt/Hvy/Sr classes.

 

LINE UPS:

  • Heat # 1 will be based on a pill draw.
  • Heat #2 according to points awarded in Heat #1—Lowest to highest points.  DNFs, DNSs, DQs, No Shows (in that order), will follow all cars finishing Heat #1, high points first.

Race Day Ties:  At 1st leg, ties will be broken by pill draw, lowest # first.

                            At 2nd –5th legs ties will be broken by series points, high points first.  If a tie

                           still exists then the lowest pill # will placed in front.

  • A Main according to points from Heat #1 & Heat #2—Lowest to highest.   DNFs, DNSs, DQs, No Shows (in that order), will follow all cars finishing Heat #2, high points first.
    • If more than a full field, Six Jrs, Eight Sr/Other will go to the A Main lined up lowest to highest in points. DNFs, DNS, DQs, No Shows (in that order), will follow all cars finishing Heat #2, high points first.
    • All Lower Mains—Six Jrs, Eight Sr/Other--Highest points to lowest from Heat #1 & Heat #2 total.  DNFs, DNSs, DQs, No Shows (in that order) in Heat #2 will follow all cars finishing Heat #2, high points first.

DNFs will receive points (If car completes one lap under power, the driver will be scored a DNF).

DNSs will receive zero points (If car does not complete one lap under power).

DQs will receive zero points.  (2 calls, immediate DQ, tech, scales).

No Shows will receive zero points.

 

TECH:

  • No track fuel will be provided.  Fuel may be tested.
  • All engines must be sealed following Heat #1 of each leg.  Handlers responsibility!!
  • $100 engine protest fee, payable to Race Director with written protest.
  • 1st-3rd A Main place finishers in each class will be impounded immediately after their main.
  • A minimum of three classes will be randomly drawn for tech.  ALL cars are subject to tech.

 

Protests must be made within 1 hour of the completion of a race to the Race Director or a CA500 committee member.  Protest must reference the rule or scoring procedure that was not followed.

 

CLASS/DIVISION ADVANCEMENT:

  • Drivers may advance to classes due to age, weight or novice graduation at any point in the series.
  • Drivers transferring will take a maximum of one point under the last place position with the same number of legs as the driver transferring.  If the driver accumulates less than the maximum of one point under the last place position they will carry the amount of points accumulated in the lower class. 
    • Novice points will only transfer to one class (Jr/Sr/Hvy Honda or Jr/Sr Stock, not both).

 

AWARDS:

  • Race Day Awards—1st-3rd in each heat will be awarded ribbons.  1st-3rd in the A Main will receive awards.  Each club is responsible for the awards presentation at their leg.  All novices will receive a participation award at each leg.
  • Series Awards—Each driver that races at least 4 out of the 5 legs in the same class will receive an end of year plaque with drivers name and series finish.

Series Ties:  If a tie exists after the final leg;   1.   Driver winning the most races will be declared the winner.  2.  If a tie still exists, then the driver with the best record of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. places will be declared the winner.  3.  If there is still a tie then both will be declared winners.

  • Competitive class Champions will also receive a jacket.  To receive a jacket the class must have 3 cars running at any one of the legs in the series.
  • Rookie of the Year Jackets—All novices transferring (after a minimum of one leg ran as a novice) into a Jr/Sr/Hvy Honda or Stock class are eligible for the Rookie of the Year.  Rookie contenders will place a ribbon on their roll cage for identifying purposes.
  • U. S. Savings Bonds will be awarded to the top 8 eligible drivers in each competitive class.  To be eligible drivers must compete in a minimum of 4 legs in the class.  Bonds will be rounded to the nearest dollar amount available.  Any surplus will be divided equally back to the drivers, then equally back to the five clubs.

Driver’s social security numbers must be provided to the bonds director by October 1, 2006.  If the number is not provided then the amount due the driver will be evenly distributed among all eligible drivers in that class.  This is the handlers responsibility!

 

GENERAL RULES & INFORMATION:

  • All QMA rules apply unless a specific CA 500 Series rule exists.
  • Code of Conduct is handled by the host club.
  • The CA 500 Series Committee will have a meeting at 7:30a Saturday prior to the start of each leg.
  • The CA 500 Series Committee will have the responsibility for all decisions regarding the running of the racing format.
  • The CA 500 Series Committee will assist the host clubs as needed during the races, if at all possible.
  • Each host tower is responsible for the line-ups for the event.
  • Each host club will have a sign in sheet at each leg.  An extra copy will be made for the tower and is to remain with the results of each race.  The host club Tower Director will provide a copy of the scoring sheets, line ups, judging sheets, and protests from the event to the CA 500 Series Points Director at the completion of each leg.  The Points Director will keep track of the series points and will forward the current point standings to the Head Scorer of each track prior to the next leg.  The host club will make available to the handlers the current points standings at sign ins.
  • $21.00 per competitive car and $20.00 per novice car will be remitted to the CA 500 Series Treasurer prior to the conclusion of the event.
  • The CA 500 committee reserves the right to set time limits at any time.
